Jolly Grilling Giant
4.5 Stars for The CGS-311 Grill Set by Cuisinart
It takes just a couple of minutes to free the utensils from the open-front box. The cleaver blade is protected by a plastic slip-cover.
The plastic handles are ergonomically designed with loops to hang the utensils right on your grill. The spatula/cleaver is 16" from tip to tip. The surface is 8"x5". The tongs are a tad over 16" with a 7" span. (I have attached a lot of pictures.)
This is NOT a grab and go, cheapy grill set. These are hefty, heavy, stainless steel multipurpose tools. The tongs weigh 10.4 ounces and the cleaver weighs a whopping 17.8 ounces. The perforated tongs have a precision point, toothed/scalloped edges and easily lock in place by pulling the "hanging loop." The over-sized spatula/cleaver combo has a sharp edge for cutting and plenty of room to flip, fold and serve. There's even a notch on the side to open ol' fashioned, metal, bottle caps.
The weightiness took some getting used to...the first night it was like using the Jolly Green Giant's utensils. In addition to cumbersome and heavy, they felt shorter than our old set. But after the second night we were old pros and our old grilling tools went to the garbage.
The tongs work GREAT for the way we grill hot dogs - the rounded edge does not puncture food. The precision point is perfect for shrimp, mushrooms and tiny-tot-tomatoes. The tongs are sturdy enough to handle our favorite steak, the 28 ounce bone in rib-eye. Again the scalloped edge did not 'dig' into the meat. The cleaver cut right through BBQ baby back ribs. Which made quick work of dividing whole racks into smaller portions for the kids. As a spatula, it did a very good job flipping monster burgers, without any part of the meat hanging and/or breaking off. Everything we've grilled has been so much easier to scoop, move, flip and serve using these utensils.
Having a good set makes grilling faster, easier and a lot more fun. Well made and competitively priced, I have no problem recommending this set to anyone.
*If I have any problem with this set, I will update this post with the information.

High quality tool set
I was using the traditional set of BBQ tools - one tool for each operation. A really dull knife for cutting, a set of tongs, a spatula, a long fork, and a sauce brush that I haven't used since the nylon bristles caught on fire and almost ruined some very nice steaks a few years ago.
Adjusting to this set wasn't hard but it was something new that I had to wrap my brain around. The spatula is 7.5 by 5 inches and a bit on the heavy side. That's big compared to my old spatula but I've found that it's a good size for picking up just about anything. One edge of the spatula is sharp and with the heft of the tool it's great for chopping. There's a bottle opener on one side that I suppose will come in useful someday. The spatula is roughly 16 inches front to back but that measurement includes the 1.25 inch hanger on the end so you're going to be closer to your heat.
When using the spatula as a knife the first time I was a bit perplexed. How do I hold down whatever it is I'm cutting - I don't have a fork. But, the tongs come to the rescue. Not only are they tongs (that lock in the closed position) but the ends are pointed so it's easy to hold something down without even puncturing it. The two sides of the tongs are useful for both grabbing something (like a steak or chicken) securely and for pulling things apart (think shredded chicken or pulled pork). The tongs are about 17 inches long (also including the hanger). I find that adequate for getting a good grip but your hand is probably going to be over the heat.
Both tools have a nice stainless steel finish with plastic handles. The spatula tang goes all the way to the hanger on the back of the tool. The plastic handle looks to be riveted to the tang, i.e., the handle isn't going to break off. The handle on the tongs appears to be slip-fitted onto the stainless steel and, I presume, glued. Again, a very sturdy design.
I've already dumped my old tools in favor of this set.

Like it, but wish it were a three-piece set
One thing about Cuisinart they always go the extra mile in kitchen tool design and quality and this set is no exception. I love to grill everything from ribs, to chicken, to lamb chops, to vegetables, and let’s not forget the good ‘ol hamburger. Over the years I have used different grilling sets and some of them matched and some of them were mixed and matched depending on the ones that worked the best. After using this set I retired the previous ones that I was using. The oversized spatula with the sharp cutting edge is my favorite. The knife edge is made for chopping meats and vegetables, but it works great to slide up under a stake or piece of chicken that might be stuck to the grill. It is larger than the average spatula and therefore can lift more meat without the risk of it falling off and hitting the ground. The handle is plenty long so that you don’t get your hand burnt while flipping hamburgers. I found the bottle opener on the edge useless, but someone else might like that. The spatula is large, has good weight to it and is awkward to use as a bottle opener. The tongs are durable, made from stainless steel and the handle is ergonomic. They have a pointed grip making picking up even the smallest food item easy precise and easy. This two-piece set is Made in China. At the current price of thirty bucks, I wish it had been at least a three-piece set. Adding a fork, for example, would have been nice.

Great set -- Christmas for the guy
Great grill set for the serious grillmaster with a sense of humor. I mean really, dudes, a spatula with a built in can opener so while you flip burgers you can keep throwing back the brews? The spatula is fairly terrifying to behold too, a spatula with a cleaver edge sharp enough to do serious damage on grilled meat or young children. But this is a brilliant idea, because when I'm grilling, how often have I wanted to slice into the meat or whatever to check on doneness? I know you're not supposed to let those crucial juices leak out, but my family is rigidly opposed to eating rare chicken. The tongs are so nicely designed that I use them for deep frying too. I can pick up anything as small as deep fried chicken livers out of the hot oil without damaging the breading and the oil drains right off.
This is a great set and I'm getting another one for son-in-law. He's very fond of drinking beverages of all kinds while grilling on a hot Florida day and threatening my grandsons with sharp instruments.

Cuisinart BBQ Tool Set
Finally a BBQ tool set that's worthy to be used on my new Lynx grill. My friends would joke and say "Did you run out of money after you bought the grill and couldn't afford a decent tool set". Well no more, wait 'till they see these bad boys. If they continue to break my stones, I'll wack them with the cleaver! This is a really nice heavy weight set. Tongs and a large spatula is all you need. You don't want to poke your meat with forks while grilling and you certainly don't need a knife while grilling. The cutting edge on the cleaver is more for looks and will be of limited practical use, but I like it none the less. I'm not a fan of the locking mechanism on tongs, but with a little surgery, I'll be able to modify them to suit my preference. This is a great set that any BBQ master will be proud to own. It's inexpensive to boot. Just buy it!. Ladies, buy this for your man, you can't go wrong.

Heavy duty grill set
The Cuisinart TriTip Grill Tool Set is made of quality materials with pretty large sized tools for general purposes and heavy duty BBQ grilling. The tongs have pointed tips with serrated edges. The handle is made of quality hard rubber which provides nice insulation from heat. It is also lockable by pull the end puller. The end of the tool also has a square hole for hanging the tool near the grill.
The spatula is quite large which is great for flipping burgers and steaks. It can be also used as a chopping knives and a bottle opener. The handle is also covered with similar hard rubber as the tongs. The flat surface measures about 7" x 4.5" which works well even on a large sized steak. The spatula is quite heavy indeed (weights about 18 oz) and might need some good muscles to operate.
Overall, great quality tools for the BBQ grill,

Nice quality tongs and chopping knife by Cuisnart! Work well and are made of excellent materials.
I've recently picked up a nice passion of grilling food and have been slowing adding to my grilling tools and utensils. I was excited to try out this two piece set, tongs and a chopping knife. Both tools are excellent quality as one would expect from Cuisinart. The tongs get the job done and have a nice grip on the handle. They are long enough to not feel the heat from the grill as well. The chopping knife is quite large and sharp! It's great to cutting hard vegetables to make kabobs or to slice meat. However, the size is very large and therefore could be dangerous, especially if you are traveling down to a community grill location. I'd probably leave this in the kitchen to prepare the food rather than transporting to the grill due to its size and sharpness. Overall, two great tools that work great for preparing and grilling food!

GREAT GRILLING TOOLS!
Cuisinart quality for sure...
love the tongs, great grip area, and the shape of the ends allows for a good grab of the food.
The knive / turner is quite the contraption!
First, it is an excellent knife for chopping vegetables for grilling...
But, I think the design inent, as the name is implies, is to quickly chop cooked Tri Tip, or other similar sized meats, with a single chop motion... it works incredibly well on my slow cooked tri tip... most tri tips are served at about 1/4 - 1/3 inch thickness... a quick chop, on an END GRAIN cutting board, then a final slicing motion is all that is required if u want to work fast, otherwise, u can slice your way through each cut.
Finish is superb and will prob. stand up to years of use...

A great set serious grilling and for gifting
This is a really nice tool set. The handles are sturdy and comfortable and the tools themselves are well designed.
The tongs are really remarkable. I’ve been able to manipulate really delicate things with them. The spatula is very heavy duty. It definitely can handle anything you want to throw it at. My one quibble with the set is that the spatula handle is a little short. However, if it were too much longer, it would be hard to control it easily.
These are the two pieces in those four piece grill sets that everyone ends up using. Don’t bother to go with the cheaper sets - this set is all you need. I plan to get the serious grillers in my life each a set of these for Christmas. That’s how awesome they are.

Tim the Tool Man Taylor would be proud
This is a massive hefty set of BBQ tools. We love Cuisinart in our home and this replaces some cheaper grilling tongs and spatulas for us. I like that the spatuala can also cut chicken or steak, making grilling easier. These are heavy tools, well designed, and made to last. I especially like that the tongs have little teeth making it easier to grip your food as you cleave off pieces of meat and toss them to the kiddos.
