Fun with lots of options
I'm a nanny and the little boy I watch just received this for his birthday. He's only one so he doesn't quite get the concept of it yet but he's enjoyed it as much as he can. I'm writing the review b/c I see people complaining about the settings it has or "doesn't" have... There IS a way to just free style, there's a specific button for it that says "free style". Also, there's a button on the right that let's you turn the background songs off..they actually don't have to be continually played. I suppose these adults who are complaining about those things just aren't tech savvy enough to figure out this toy..(apparently they don't know how to push little buttons with specific words and or symbols)

Awesome for an 8 month old that loves to slap his hand to make drum sounds!
When I first saw this I knew I had to get it for my 8 month old son. He loves to slap boxes and the table to make drum sounds. This thing makes all sorts of awesome sounds and there are a ton of cool modes for him to learn. He was able to get to the letter "J" in the alphabet game on his first day by following the lighted things and slapping them. So he is learning well! This toy is super cool and he loves it!

Interesting toy at first but unsure if most children would use it to full potential
My small son seemed to have a proclivity for beating on objects and trying to tap out rhythms when he was very young (age 2), so we purchased this drum set hoping that it might further encourage him. This little set is decent and does have four separate functions including our favorite, where a rhythm is played and then a drum or the cymbal is lit up for the toddler to tap. While this sounds great in an advertising promotional, in real life it just did not hold my son's attention long. He played with it some during the first week, a little bit in week two and after that has rarely touched it. I might also say that many smaller children lack the muscle control and focus needed to tap out some of the rhythms even if they are musically inclined. What more often happens, is that for my son or any of his friends, within seconds, they reject the programmed rhythm and just start banging on the toy for fun.
And therefore, long story short, while this drum set has the potential to be a decent educational toy, I have a feeling for most children that it will be something fun to bang on for a bit and then discarded in a closet or some such.

One of the best purchases I made this past holiday season! You WILL NOT REGRET this purchase! :)
This product's description does not do it justice! It's waaaay more awesome than what they are telling you!
My favorite things about this drum set are the fact that it helps your child learn the alphabet and numbers!
My son was OBSESSED with this toy until he got all his letters and numbers down! This drum set even expanded his vocabulary!
I love this toy and I STRONGLY RECOMMEND this toy for other toddlers and preschoolers!
You will not regret this purchase! There is also a volume control button on the bottom that comes in handy when needed! :)

Complete waste of money.
I am so disappointed in this. Bought this for a Christmas present and it was a complete waste of money. The sound is so low, even on high volume all you hear is the sticks hitting the toy. I could have done better by making my own from cans from my cabinet.

Cute and durable
Nice and noisy. Just what I wanted in a gift for my nephew that is 2. LOL! I love giving kids noisy gifts.
Update: This gift was a hit! Out of all the toys he got, this is the one he wanted to play with. Even his little friends wanted to play with it. Definitely appropriate for a 2 year old boy....and girl really!

Lights and Sounds what every child loves.
I purchased this for my grandsons birthday. He just turned one so he isn't too sure how to use it but he loves the lights and noises it makes.
The drum set is sturdy and well made.
Comes with 2 drum sticks and batteries are included.
There is a volume button on the side, on the highest setting it is not overly loud.
The drums light up.
Many different push button settings easy for kids to push and use.
No sharp edges.
Great gift for a child of any age, my 4 yr old grandson had to "test" it out when it was delivered. He loves it too lol

perfect first drum set for little ones
This drum set was bought for my son's first birthday because he loves to bang. We have another drum set which is much more for a toddler. I prefer this one. It really is small in size (which mommy likes for storing). It's the perfect size for a little one to sit on the floor and play with. I believe it's recommended for 18 months+, but I think 12 months old is a perfect age. My son will take both drum sticks and bang There are several different settings, but for older kids, there's a "follow the beats" which taps into their memory. I even like playing that one. There are two volume settings, and the lower setting isn't that bad.
