5 Stars By Robby S. on 2016-11-27 Looks stupid the way we use it; revolutionized our TV time Do you have kids? We have three of them. By the time I get home from a long day at work, sometimes I just need a little Netflix or fan-key Prime.
Before I got these, there was this hellish period of "You've got to be kidding me? What do you mean you don't remember where you put it?!?!" Sure, we had a designated basket where the remotes should go, but they'd be under the couch, under a blanket, in the next room, etc.
Now, all I do is click a button on the base remote and the fob chimes away and we have fun finding the cussed little devices. Sure, they still end up in every conceivable unusual spot, but now we can find them.
It works through furniture, at least 20-30 feet away. If there are walls involved, no biggie, I just walk around with the remote clicker and push a few times. Never failed us in about two months of use. If you'd like to use it for keys, I think it would work equally as well.
Each fob chime it a simple series of beeps, but each has a different note or tone. So if you're searching for multiple items at a time, you'll just hear different notes.
My only complaint is the form factor doesn't work aesthetically for our current use, but we don't care. Now we can find our remotes in seconds. I'd give it 4-4.5 stars for that, but the positive impact it's had on this small sliver of our lives is fantastic. First world problem, but now it's solved.
I highly recommend this product!
5 Stars By Jill B on 2016-02-19 Cat Finder! This was a gift from my son who thought it would help when the cats give the slip in the garden. It does! Because of predators (coyotes, bobcats, eagles, etc.) I supervise all outdoor time but I also like to get a little work done meaning my eyes are not on cats 100% of the time. The little stinkers take advantage of this and hide quietly under bushes until they have me searching the whole property in a total panic. I believe this amuses them. But now with the key finder on their collars, the advantage is mine although I find I do need to be within 20-30 feet of the hiding place to both to trigger the alarm as well as to hear it. The beeping could be louder but it's a safe level for the cats and doesn't frighten them. The finder also works well indoors and will trigger through walls.
I've uploaded a short video that demonstrates the key..now cat...finder in use. The first scene shows our gray cat reacting the very first time his collar beeped (shot indoors while the cat was in his play tent.) The second scene demonstrates the cat finder working after the cat sneaked through the fence to hide in the bushes around the neighbor's porch. The third scene is from our own garden where we have a dense philodendron thicket. Unfortunately, my cell phone microphone did a poor job of picking up the beeping during that recording but the sound was clearly audible from at least 20 feet. There is a set of ten rapid beeps with each button press (I triggered the beeping additional times out of frame in both the outdoor scenes.)
Update after 5 months of use: The battery on one of the receivers died after what I estimate to be about 700 activations. Not a big deal since the replacement is the very common 2025 disc battery BUT I also dropped the sending unit about 4 feet onto concrete which caused it to stop working. I immediately ordered another set from fan-key and was hoping not to have to change out the receiver fobs on the cat collars but alas the new sending unit was not compatible with the old receivers so I had to break a few nails switching to the new fobs.
5 Stars By familyoffive on 2016-08-16 Found the remote! This works as it should. I purchased it to attach to my fan-key fire remote. That thing is so small that I am constantly losing it. These little fobs are a little big for that. Are they usable? Sure! Just a bit big and in the way. I got used to it. It beats searching for the remote every day. I will likely put a key chain loop on one and make it so that I can hook it to my phone some how when I'm home (which is where I usually lose my phone- thanks kids!) These are too big to use on my phone all of the time. Perfect size for keys. I have terrible hearing but I'm able to find these every time. Great product.
4 Stars By fan-key Customer on 2016-09-03 4 Stars Last week I lost my $100 + dollar Nissan spare key, then found days later in a bag in the basement after looking hard.. When I saw this, I ordered based on the customer reviews and immediately tested once it was delivered. Worked perfectly, as long as the receiver is in range. For the price, this is well worth the possibility of losing my expensive key again. I'm unsure of the battery life, but replacement batteries are cheap. I immediately niter the alarm speaker is on the backside of the receiver. When I flipped it over it sounded much louder. Overall very worth having for the price, as I misplace my keys in the home a lot. 4.5 stars because it does not connect to a smartphone.
5 Stars By Nicolas on 2016-10-24 good packaging. Got one before and it works great Came on time, good packaging. Got one before and it works great. Some limitations with distance and intervening walls, just like your WI-Fi so don't expect it to work from outside the house, the yard etc. Just test it to set its limits. Worked well for me, so I got one for my mother. She misplaces her wallet/change purse all the time and she gets upset when she cannot find it. She is in Greece and the construction is concrete and bricks with stucco on the walls, so I don't know how it will work there. I'll update when she tells me.
5 Stars By Chad D. Laibly on 2016-11-06 Works Great! No Complaints. These work great and we use them a lot. when you first get them, make sure you have the batteries in right. The thicker side of the flat batteries goes in so you can still see it once it's in. Just push it in till it fits. There is no click. Then, when you use the control pad, hold the key down for at least 5 seconds. I thought it was broken for a few hours because I didn't realize I couldn't just click the buttons. That said, SOOO glad I bought this. It's a great product at a great price. There is a flash light on the control and each pad has a small red light and makes a noise.
5 Stars By Childbride on 2016-08-06 Where was this all my adult life! I am one of these people who loses everything, mostly, like many people, the car keys, sunglasses, purse, wallet--- you name it! My smartphone never gets lost now because I have a smartwatch that tells me where it is but what about the rest of the things? I ordered this key finder and I'm totally thrilled with it. it has the four colored tags that can be hung on a key ring or they can be stuck onto an item with provided double back sticky buttons. you tap the red one for whatever, the green one, etc. and it beeps even in the purse I can hear it outside the purse. this is really amazing. it works very well and all of a sudden I'm not running around like a crazy person looking for my items. from the order page it said that it was selling for much more. I found the price to be affordable and I'm so glad it was because I'm really thrilled with this product. there's not a thing wrong with it and it's so handy I'll never misplace my things again. my little handy Esky key finder will help me.
4 Stars By Charlene King on 2016-10-17 Simpler and easier than the kind that requires a smart phone and computer Got this after we lost one of our sets of car keys, and learned what a hassle it is to replace it. Most of our lost key adventures occur either in the house, one of the cars, or somewhere we know. You can take this handset and search around the area, and it makes a clear sound within three rooms of a house, for example. I have used it successfully several times since we got it last month.
1 Stars By Richard Evans Lee on 2016-05-14 Died in less than a Year Suddenly the whole setup stopped working. Fresh batteries did not help. Seemed like a great product.
3 Stars By InfamousS on 2016-10-22 Have to buy your own adhesive, not a whole working product The adhesive isn't sturdy enough to stick onto things. The sound works well. So I have to find another kind of adhesive to use so that I can actually use this product, so far it's just been sitting there being useless
