A Nice Waterproof Mattress Protector That Is Both Breathable And Hypoallergenic. No "Crinkly" sounds.
My wife and I currently use a queen size mattress with a 3 inch memory foam topper on top of the mattress. This makes a pretty tall mattress plus memory foam topper height of about 17 inches. In the past we have had trouble getting mattress protectors with tall enough sides to be tucked under the corners of the top mattress.
This Sable Queen Size Waterproof Mattress Protector (Model SA-BD005) is 60 by 80 inches (queen size) and has a side height of 16 inches. I hoped that this 16 inch side height would work with our 17 inch mattress plus topper. I was fairly confident that it would work, and I was pleased to find that the elastic corners of this pad were able to be tucked under the corners of the mattress. In fact, it appears that the pad would probably accommodate about an 18 inch mattress thickness if necessary.
This fabric of this mattress protector is made from breathable cotton terrycloth (80% cotton and 20%polyester). It has a thin waterproof polyurethane membrane (breathable) attached to the bottom of the cotton terrycloth cover. This membrane is waterproof to liquids, but allows air and vapors to travel through it, making it breathable.
The protector is hypoallergenic and dust mite resistant (important for people with allergies), and is listed as being anti-bacterial, anti-dirt, water-proof, and breathable. It is listed by the FDA as a Class 1 Medical Device, which has to do with consumer protection, meaning that it has the lowest potential for harm to the consumer.
The first thing I did was to give the mattress protector the waterproof test. Since we always wash fabrics before using them anyway (to remove any chemicals used in manufacturing processes, and to improve the feel of the fabric), I had no problem with pouring water on the mattress pad. I poured about 4 ounces of water on about the middle of the top of the pad. It soaked into the cotton terrycloth top, as I expected, but the bottom polyurethane layer blocked the water well. After about an hour, no water had leaked through the protector. The bottom of the pad did not feel damp at all.
My wife and I both really liked that the protector was smooth, and did not sound “crinkly” when we moved around on the bed, like some of the waterproof mattress protectors we have used in the past (which used a non-fabric plastic layer for water protection). This bottom waterproof polyurethane layer is actually quite soft and flexible, and does not sound like “crinkly” when moved like plastic does.
My practical wife liked that the mattress pad is machine washable. It can be machine washed with normal laundry detergent (no bleach). It can then be tumble dried on low heat in a dryer (no ironing or dry cleaning). The fabric of the protector had an even softer feel after it was first washed, just like clothes feel better after the first wash. We also both appreciated that the mattress protector has a Sable no hassle lifetime warranty, with either money back or replacement of the product. I would definitely recommend this mattress protector to my friends.

I bought this after I noticed my 10 year old mattress had some stains on it (no I didn't wet my bed). I just bought a new mattress and was thinking I'd like to keep it pristine looking so I thought I'd buy a mattress protector for my new mattress. But I remember my parents having a mattress protector and it was crinkly sounding - it pretty much sounded like you're sleeping on plastic. They junked that after a week.
Reviews of this didn't mention the noise so I decided to try it out. Bought it received it 2 days ago. Put it on my old mattress and it fit fine. I can't vouch for how water proof it is since I didn't really need it to be super water proof. Just enough that even if you wound up sweating your butt off, it won't go through your sheets. But the two things I want to mention that I did notice are
1. It actually doesn't have much noise or crinkly feeling. It's not the same as not having one though. It's very very faint noise wise, but it's there if you try to listen for it. But if you don't, then it's not going to bother you.
2. It made the bed feel a bit stiffer. I'm not sure if it was my imagination but the bed didn't quite feel as soft as it did before. Overall it feels completely fine though and I'm glad I bought it.

So. Much. Coconut. Oil.
Did you know that coconut oil melts at the temperature of the human body? Normally, the bed is the last place where you'd want to find that out. But, because of my handy-dandy mattress protector, no harm befell my mattress...and it's a good thing, too, because that thing is a giant foam sponge that is like 18 inches deep and NOBODY loves the smell of coconut THAT much. At my house, mattress protectors put up more of a fight than the plastic sheets at the first row of a Gallagher show, and this may be my favorite. It wraps over the top (no zipper, which is awesome, because the zippers ALWAYS break), its easily washable, and you can empty an entire gallon of paint onto the surface of it and nothing will get through.

Mattress pad protection for a bargain price
This Sable Mattress Pad offers you a durable product that has a terry cloth cover and the following benefits: anti-bacterial, anti-dirt, waterproofing, protection against bedbugs and a lifetime guarantee. This pad will cover a 16" deep bed and my bed is 12" thick, but it still fit snug when I put it on.
I tested the waterproof protection by wetting a portion under the faucet and let it sit for an hour. I checked the underside and it was dry as new underneath while the cloth side was still damp. When you lay on this mattress pad with a bedsheet on, you barely notice the pad is even there. The elastic seems to keep it on the bed without sliding around. I recommend this mattress pad to anyone that wants to have mattress pad protection and doesn't want to spend a lot of money for it.

i purchased this product for my elderly parents, who has trouble getting up at night to use the bathroom. So i needed something to prevail the actual mattress to getting wet, came across this product. tested out to see if it is really water proof because it felt like the water would go through it. But i was shocked to find out the water stays at the top for good 15 minute. Which is fine by me, 15 minute is alot of time to have it cleaned. So would i advise purchasing it? Sure if you can clean it in 10-15 minute, anything longer than that the water will start absorbing into your mattress, and that can be troublesome to clean.
Hope that helps

Perfect for bed bug protection!
We had bed bugs and our old bed bug cover got really disgusting from the dead bed bugs that got trapped inside, so I wanted to get a new one. This one was much cheaper than our old old and I like it so much more! Our sheet stays over it with no problems and it's not super annoying and crinkly like our old one was. I love the water proof barrier because I usually change my son's diapers on the bed and I feel like the mattress is protected in case I don't get his diaper on fast enough. Without the sheets on it, this mattress cover feels like a hotel towel to me. I am very happy with it! The packaging was verg simple and easy to open, which I loved.

This was just like the one that R&F gave me when we purchased our expensive Queen mattress.
- same material and material as our old which means it stood up to various episodes relating parenthood...leaky baby diaper, bloody nose etc. - our mattress was saved.
- the liner is flexible and not feeling like plastic drapped over a couch type thing
- pro or con, considering the thiness, effectiveness and sofrtness of the liner, expect the material to breakdown after about 5 years give or take. Mind you, it did go through gentle cycles about every couple weeks and tuble low drying
- no odor, mesh flexible sides to wrap easily under your mattress
- it will eventually break down, just depends on the circumstances but when it starts to break down, you will soooo know it. The liner begins to flake and it gets everywhere when it slips out the sides. Pull it off, pooof! Not as easy to vaccumm the flakes off the the side tubing designs and quiltings. Use a brush/spinning attachment and it will help greatly
Overall, asides from the pain in A for the breakdown stage, I would buy this again. Underneath, our mattress still looks like it was new without any of those gross stains and stuff. This type saved our mattress so many times (with 2 young kids/babies). Worth the investment.

A nice mattress protector for the price
I only gave this four stars because it is not truly 100% waterproof. It does leak through after about 15-20 minutes. It is soft and fits well on our queen mattress. Other than the leaking, it is a good product and I would recommend.

Stays on well and comfortable.
I mistakenly thought this would have a zipper rather than elastic corners when I ordered it. We usually have trouble keeping elastic corners on the bed but this is doing okay. Has deep elastics. Some waterproof covers can seem crinkly but this one is cozy. So it wasn't completely what I expected but I'm pleased with the purchase.

It fits my queen bed snug and does a good job of protecting my mattress from drink spills
It fits my queen bed snug and does a good job of protecting my mattress from drink spills, stains, and the like. I like that its hypoallergenic and has the added protection against bed bugs and dust mites because ya never know when you might need that. I always had problems with my mattress protector and my sheets riding up on my bed and coming off and constantly having to adjust it but I thankfully don't have a problem with that with this one.
