5 Stars By Menthol Rum on 2017-06-24 Fast and simple spiralizer. Great for Paleo, Keto or low carb eaters A lot of people would agree that we need to eat more vegetables. I know I do. I've gone low carb, it works well for me. I make zoodles. I've even become good at it. I have the inexpensive The Original SpiraLife Vegetable Spiralizer and I use it but it takes some time and effort. While hand held spiralizers are good, the Hamilton Spiralizer is much faster, offers 3 cuts and cleans up easily. I can process 4 zucchini in a minute, super fast.
I used the ribbon blade to make baked zucchini chips. The attached photos are of me making zoodle bolognese. Yes, it's *another* kitchen gadget. However, it makes things faster and simpler to add vegetables to a lot of meals. Now, for me, I tend to do things that are easier and using this electric spiralizer is seconds compared to minutes. That has led to more vegetables in my cooking.
It takes a second to put in the cutting cone, lock the top in place and you're ready to go. Note that if the top isn't turned to the lock position, the spiralizer will not turn on. There's a lock/unlock icon in the plastic that shows how far to turn the top. The bowl has a 6 cup capacity and it fits two zucchini, but the bowl is unattached and you can empty it to a pan or another bowl in a second.
The Hamilton Spiralizer is great way to increase vegetables in your diet and a great alternative to pasta. For instance, the zoodle bolognese I made has approximately 1/10 the carbs of pasta and it's delicious. Not to mention all the additional vitamins, nutrients, antioxidants and fiber. Let's be clear, while the zoodles are tasty, they do not have the texture of grains.
This is a simple machine with several parts. It's easy to store, as I don't have it out except when I'm using it. It's usually back in the cabinet in 5 minutes. It's really easy to setup, use and clean. There is a small brush to clean the blades as needed.
If you look at all the options for spiralizers, there are many. This is priced a little higher than the good hand crank spiralizers and for my needs, this is better for me. It's on and off the counter in minutes and I have my spiralized vegetables. It's very reasonably priced for electric spiralizers.
There's many recipes and uses easily found online, using many, many foods that you can use in many different ways, for salads, pasta replacement, garnish, snacks etc. You can process a variety of foods: zucchini/summer squash, cucumber, carrot, sweet potato, yam, potatoes, butternut squash, beet, jicama, rutabaga, radishes, pear, apples, plantain onion, eggplant and broccoli stem
5 Stars By M. Cargill on 2017-06-26 Simple and very easy to use I've always wanted to use a spiraler for all my summer vegetables and this is a really simple machine with minimal parts (6-7) to put together. There are 3 different blades: spaghetti, a thicker spaghetti blade, and ribbon. I cut up some carrots and the machine ripped through them without any issues. It didn't work so well on the thicker spaghetti blade but it made really nice curly Q carrots and a beautiful rose ribbon. Another great thing about this machine is it's pretty quiet. I was expecting it to be twice as loud as it was. Simple to use, easy to clean and store.
5 Stars By Spot On on 2017-06-24 Easy-Breezy! I have a manual spirializer. It takes a lot of wrist action and pressure to get the job done. But the spaghetti spirals are wonderful. When I saw that there was an electric spiralizer I was delighted. The Hamilton Beach 3-in-1 Electric Spiralizer has a very informative booklet that shows you how to easily stack up the components, to use the machine. Easy-breezy! It only takes about ten seconds to put the various parts together. They basically just fall into place. You do have to make sure that the clear cover that is on the top is turned and locked into place or the machine will not work. This is a good thing, because if you forget to turn off the switch and start putting your fingers down in the cutting cone, that would be a disaster. However this cannot happen because the clear cover is disengaged. Even with the switch still on it will not go. This is wonderful! To get the vegetables, especially carrots, spiralized, it does take some downward pushing on your part to force it through. But this is nothing compared to the effort it takes for a manual spiralizer. This is a breeze next to that. The resulting effect is wonderful. With three different blades to choose from, this product is marvelous! Hamilton Beach 3-in-1 Electric Spiralizer (70930), Black
5 Stars By Oystergirl on 2017-09-02 USER FRIENDLY AND LOST WEIGHT! This kitchen gadget is currently my absolute fave!!! I've been making 'noodles' out of zucchini, squash and sweet potatoes and eating leftovers for lunches. Within one week I noticed my pants fitted looser! I highly recommend for pasta lovers. The device is very user friendly. I expected there would be a learning curve required, but no! Just remember....don't salt zucchini or squash prior to or during cooking. It makes them 'sweat' and turn mushy. Another tip....zucchini and squash should not need anymore than 5 mins cook time. Sweet potatoes 8 minutes. I will attach a couple of photos
5 Stars By ChristineMM on 2017-07-20 Awesome - Electric is Best!I plan on experimenting with other vegetables. I have some recipes in a keto diet book and some Paleo This electric spiralizer by Hamilton Beach is fantastic. Very easy directions to set up and then select from one of the four different cut shapes. The blades are in a cone shaped plastic piece and you choose between round spaghetti, Julianne like linguine, thick Julianne, or ribbon blade for wide flat cuts. The pusher has two knife blades in it that stick into the vegetable so there is no slipping and you very gently push down and the cuts are made easy and fast. I was able to use full length zucchini. Clean up is very simple and a small brush is provided which is convenient for scrubbing at the sharp blades to get the buts of skin and pulp off.
Last week I used a friend's spiralizer that was a hand-operated non-electric, and you had to push down with hard pressure with one hand and arm while turning a crank in a consistent circle with the other. It was a little tricky -- if you did it wrong the cuts were not even. I was trying to do about a dozen zucchini and also with that machine we had to cut each zucchini and half in order to let it fit into the machine.
Prior I had purchased a small spiralizer that you stick on the end of the vegetable and just turn it around and around. I could never get that to work right. It's sitting in the back of one of my cupboards being ignored. The cheapest device does not always work!
We are using raw zucchini with very hot homemade marinara sauce. The pasta sauce warms through this zucchini and the zucchini is almost flavorless so if your eyes were closed you might think you were actually eating real pasta. I am gluten intolerant and I'm supposed to avoid corn and some other grains so for me gluten-free grain-based pasta is not a great option anyway. I love having zucchini in this way because it gets the vegetables in, is good fiber, and provides good vitamins and minerals.
I plan on experimenting with other vegetables. I have some recipes in a keto diet book and some Paleo cookbooks that I'm going to try out now. Very rxcited, 5 stars = love it.
5 Stars By A Mom on 2018-01-18 Glad I bought this for sweet potatoes. I'm enjoying spiralizing sweet potatoes with this. That's the only veggie I've done so far. Saute with some olive oil, add salt, and voila!
