4 Stars By Suzanne Amara on 2017-08-22 Very nice sound, great compact size and shape, a few issues with connecting. This little triangle bluetooth speaker packs a big sound in it! We've used it a lot to listen to everyone in the family's favorite songs, and they all agreed the tunes sounded terrific, much better than they did on some other bluetooths we have (some really cheap ones!) It's a cute looking thing, too, and the compact size and shape mean that it fits most anywhere. I haven't gotten it wet, but I like the thought of it being waterproof---we often listen outside, and it's nice to know we don't have to worry about a splash or two.
I'm marking it off a star for a couple reasons. One is that it was a little tricky to pair the first time. The instructions said it would autodetect devisces the first time it was turned on, but it didn't at all, and we tried quite a few different devices. This was easily fixed by pressing the pairing button, although it was hit or miss with remembering devices the second time---it did remember some, but others we had to pair by hand every time. This seems like a problem with a lot of bluetooth products. The other issue is little but annoying---the buttons were covered with a tape strip when we first got it, and when I took off the strip, it left a lot of sticky goo---enough so everyone handling the speaker until we finally managed to get it all off commented on it. Not a big deal, really!
Overall, a nice product, and one I hope to use for a long time.
4 Stars By Daniel Bobinski on 2017-08-22 Good for background music or audio books Cute little device, and nifty that it's waterproof. We do pool parties at a friend's house during summer, and with this device, I'm not worried about it getting wet. ESPECIALLY with rambuncious teens splashing around in the pool. Even if it falls in the water, we're okay. That said, it's not providing any booming music, so don't get it thinking you're going to have a "wow" outdoor sound system. Sound quality is "okay." Nothing to write home about. Good / acceptable, but not great. The speaker is only about 1", and because it's sealed, there's no way to imitate a bass-port. The "resonating speaker technology" seems to sound better with some music than others.
Connectivity was tricky. I'm not a huge tech-guy, so my uber-geek friend stepped up and made it all happen.
Curiously, it has a built-in mic so if you're listening to music (or whatever) from your cell phone, you can take a call while talking through the unit itself.
Charge is supposed to last "up to eight hours." I've not tested that time, but I've run it for five hours straight with no problems.
Suggested uses: Background music, or if you want to listen to an audio book.
5 Stars By Eric San Juan on 2017-08-23 Surprisingly good sound for something no bigger than your palm I have to admit, I was surprised. I was initially disappointed when it arrived in the mail. For some reason, I had it in my head that this speaker was going to be larger. In reality, it's small enough to fit completely in the palm of your hand. Seeing that, I didn't expect much.
Plugged it into my PC with the included USB jack to give it a charge, then decided to put it through its paces.
The speaker connected to my phone within seconds. Appeared in its list of Bluetooth devices almost immediately. I love not having to fuss with stuff!
From there, I ran it through the phone's media player, Pandora, and Spotify. All worked fine, but more importantly, they SOUNDED good, too. This little speaker has a surprisingly robust bottom end for its size, with a very clear mid range. The high end is a little washed out and muted, but overall the sound quality is better than I expected.
The triangle-shaped speaker has a front and back, and three sides (duh). One of the three sides has a covered jack for the USB connection. Another has power, volume, and Bluetooth buttons that all responded well. And the last side has a rubber cushioned base that allows you to stand the speaker upright if you want to (though it sounds fine sitting flat on a table, too).
This is really a nice little speaker, especially for the price. Perfect for bringing better sounding music with you when you're working in an odd spot in the house, heading to the park, or wherever. It's super small, very light, and sounds really good!
4 Stars By Antigone Walsh on 2017-08-16 Portability Over Performance If you value portability over performance, this is the speaker for you. It is lightweight and easy to transport. Very sturdy, it withstands water, drops and other insults without damage. It charges via USB port and the cable is included. If found the connection iffy. In areas where there is not a strong signal connectivity was finicky and unreliable at best. where the signal was strong, it was fast and good. In many ways this reminds me of a contemporary version of a transistor radio. You can take it anywhere but the sound quality is far from impressive. fine to provide some background music at a barbecue or party or while lounging at the pool but not where music is the focus. It is decent with audio books and the speakerphone function is surprisingly good. While I can't say I'ms impressed by it, I do use it and its handiness can't be beat. If you can temper your musical expectations and appreciate its sturdiness and portability, you will find this speaker convenient. 3.5 stars
4 Stars By Chris W. on 2017-08-21 Decent little speaker. Awesome little speaker with an ok sound.
First of all, this is pretty much proof anything, throw whatever you want at it and it will still play. That is a very nice feature and will keep many people happy for a long time. If you are audiophile you might want to look elsewhere. The sound isn't the greatest, it is, however, good enough to pass the time. You will not be playing concerts with this but if you just want to listen to some tunes by the pool, in the desert, during a rain storm or whenever bad weather might stop you this is for you.
This speaker feels solid, it syncs easily and I really had no issue other than the sound. Great speaker all around and don't let the sound bother you if you are going to use it for easy listening. It really rates between a 4 and 5, I just don't like giving something like this a 5 because of it being a speaker and it isn't perfect.
5 Stars By Steve Taylor on 2017-08-19 Great for a waterproof BT speaker. I've never owned an iHome speaker but I know others that do and I've heard them in electronic stores thanks to their smart marketing. To me they've always had a nice tone. This speaker does not sound as good as some of their other models however it is waterproof which closes off any sound ports so this is expected. Great build quality and it's small size makes it extremely portable. Great for boating and watersports.
I misspoke in the video saying that it did not have a USB jack. I meant to say 3.5mm jack.
2 Stars By COLORADO HERMIT on 2017-08-14 I wasn't very impressed with this speaker. It paired ... I wasn't very impressed with this speaker. It paired with my Lenovo tablet with no problem. But it doesn't have much volume to it. The little bitty speakers in my 8" Lenovo tablet put out more sound than this does. And for the price they have on it you should get two of them that will play in stereo. Or they could at least make them so you could link a pair of them, or more, to play in stereo. Overall, I am not impressed with this speaker. When it can't even match the sound quality I get from my little 8" tablet they are not worth what they want for them.
4 Stars By Bill McLean on 2017-08-17 BETTER THAN FOUR STARS - LESS THAN FIVE I don't know what they mean by an included speakerphone, and I don't care. After fully charging the unit, it paired with my 4th generation Fire Tablet intuitively. No, it doesn't do well with Base compared to my set-p with a Sony Receiver and 3-foot Pioneer speakers. But when I have it play The Beatles music, from my Tablet to it the clarity is astonishing. The Beatles are right here in my living-room. Them and the whole band. Them and all the music from childhood until now - pushing 80.
5 Stars By Cotton Picker on 2017-11-27 Great for Outdoor Use around Warter iHome’s portable, waterproof speaker is perfect for the outdoor enthusiast. We camp and kayak and have found this to be just what we needed. It is small, fits in the palm of hand. The exterior is a plastic. This is not water resistant; it is waterproof. Huge difference. This baby can be underwater uo to 30 minutes. It pars easily and can act as a speakerphone. The sound is good, not superb, but didn’t expect that for a fully encased waterproof speaker.
4 Stars By Kat Hooper on 2017-09-19 This is a nice little bluetooth speaker This is a nice little bluetooth speaker, perfect for carrying around when you need music or an audiobook (that's mostly what I use it for) around the house or yard. It's easy to pair with a device and to operate. The sound is quite good, but probably won't satisfy an audiophile. That's not what it's for. I like the thin profile of this speaker, and the lanyard for hanging (e.g. from a tree or chair) is helpful. Good value.
